About

4SIGHT, INC. is dedicated to providing historically under-represented minority students the opportunity for a first-rate science education beginning in the early years. Driving this mission are the objectives of the Federal Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Plan. 4SIGHT’s goal is to strengthen the position of under-represented, overlooked, and under-served students within the STEM career pipeline by advocating for equitable high-quality education from K-PHD in Huntsville AL, with goals on replicating our approach throughout the Black Belt.

Historically, Huntsville, Alabama is known as Rocket City. Huntsville was instrumental in the American Space Race and currently $30-50 billion per year flows through the city via government contracts. However, today, access to a quality education in Huntsville is not universal. 4SIGHT INC was initially created to address the absence of High School Physics courses at our local Title 1 (predominantly low income) high schools in Huntsville, Alabama. Since then, we have grown to assist students at every grade level. The lack of Physics curriculum at the High School level in “Rocket City”, is not acceptable.

Huntsville possesses a wealth of scientific and engineering assets, particularly those associated with aerospace sciences. However, the distribution of those resources is far from equitable; due to a disconnect between the support providers and the people in need. There exists an intangible gap between the two that neither are willing or able to cross. The purpose of 4SIGHT INC is to mediate effectively between the two parties in order to provide these assets to under-represented minority students in order to strengthen their participation in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) career pipelines. We’ve heard from multiple business that there is a lack of local talent especially among minorities. The opportunities for support and success exist, but are outnumbered by the barriers. For the past seven years, 4SIGHT, INC. has been collaborating with various institutions in Huntsville on projects to bring resources to the people and people to the resources.

We are also a proud AmeriCorps VISTA Sponsor. VISTA is an anti-poverty program, envisioned by President John F. Kennedy, and created by President Lyndon Johnson’s Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 as the domestic version of the Peace Corps. Initially, the program increased employment opportunities for conscientious people who felt they could contribute tangibly to the War on Poverty. Volunteers served in communities throughout the U.S., focusing on enriching educational programs and vocational training for the nation’s underprivileged classes. VISTA’s legislative purpose, as defined under the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973, is to supplement efforts to fight poverty in low-income communities by engaging Americans from all walks of life in a year of full-time service.
